Dr. Michael, Dr. Amany, Dr. Mohamed Rashad
Today 15 march, faculty of Media and Mass Communication at Misr University For Science And Technology (MUST), organised a conference at the (VIP) conference hall.
Dr Michael Foley was the presenter in this conference, he is a professor in Dublin institute of technology in Ireland, this is one of the largest higher institutions in Ireland, it has been ranked in "TIMES" higher education's top 100 university- level institutions globally under 50 years.
The main topic in this conference was "web-based media", at this conference he talked about the new media and it's effectiveness on us, and how about the future for the traditional media?
He see that social media especially Facebook is not media it's just a platform because anyone can publish anything he want without verifying from it, unlike traditional media it has more credibility than new media, but also he insisted on everything which is online is much easy and better for every one to show on.
Also he see that we are as journalists should be professional, and follow media ethics in order to be successful. he said that journalism is the corner stone for any work in the media field.
He talked about the importance of the public relations department in the media field, his opinion is that they get funds to the media institutions.
He admired our plog a lot, but he said that we have to apply theoretical information to practical one.
After 1 hour of speaking, students began to ask him about his opinion in Arab media does it have freedom like European media or not? does the sponsors and businessmen control over the media in our country or not? he replied on all the important questions.
At the end of the conference he advised us that we have a lot of homework to do to survive journalism.
He appreciated the students a lot taking pictures with them, thanking them for attending.
It's worth mentioning that this conference was under- supervision of Dr Mohamed Rashad, doctor at broadcasting department in the faculty, with the presence of professor doctor Amany Omar vice dean for student affairs.
