The Gracious Homeless

ElZamalek, 26th July Street , May 10 – 12:15 pm .

On the opposite side of the Armed forces Hotel,
there sitting on the pavement is :   'Amm Mohsen',

a man in his late fifties surrounded by flowers inserted in water bottles making a charming beautiful sight, which sparked our curiosity  .

"I love giving these flowers away to beautiful people and I don’t mind receiving money from those who are willing to"

- said Mohsen,
when asked if he was selling those flowers .

Then with a smile reflecting his deep self-satisfaction looking up into the sky he pointed at some flying birds and said:

" God ..  who sustains these birds ,  will not forget me "

He wouldn’t tell about his previous life, but he said he has been living in the streets for more than four years.

Though he seems to be well informed and aware about the current Egyptian events . You will find him frequently reading the newspapers and listening to the radio.

Regardless of his circumstances,
Mohsen shows a bright smile and hides a loving kind spirit,

giving us hope that  whatever difficulties we may come across ,  we should never lose faith in the justice of life .

But as much as he gives us hope , yet we can’t help but regret the circumstances that lead him  and many others there.

We appeal to the Government and those in power not to ignore the homeless in their reform plan.
