A fire that erupted in a crowded in Ataba district (Cairo’s down town) in early on Monday has injured 45 people and resulted in no deaths, the Ministry of Health said.The fire began in one of the hotels located in El-Roweiy area and then spread to four adjacent buildings that contain dozens of plastics stores.
Sixty people are reported to be injured after inhaling smoke, but no deaths have been reported, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
At least 225 stores have been damaged, according to the store owners who roughly estimate their losses at 25 million EGP ($2.8 million).
Thirty fire vehicles were dispatched to the site of the fire and the armed forces deployed five fire vehicles to assist in extinguishing the fire.
The fire comes seven days after another massive fire in the same district. However, there were no injures from last week's fire.
