Egypt to open Rafah border crossing for 2 days

Palestine’s embassy in Cairo said that Egypt will open the Rafah border with Gaza for people to cross from both sides on Wednesday and Thursday.

This decision comes in response to Palestine’s president Mahmoud Abbas request after his meeting with the Egyptian president on Monday.

Palestine’s embassy said that that Rafah crossing would be open for the two directions to the people to cross for the humanitarian reasons.

The embassy thanks the Egyptian president for this step.

Over 1.5million Palestinians people live in Gaza under Israel’s control and Rafah crossing is the only way for them to get out Gaza for the health and study  reasons.

Egypt has already opened Rafah border three-day periods to allow people with medical care to travel to Egypt; also for students that study abroad. But for some security reasons the last opening of the border was in last February.
